The Environmental impact of our food is very important. I aim to use ingredients that have a minimal impact on the environment and animals, by shopping locally, avoiding large supermarkets, growing as much as I can myself, and sidestepping the use of palm oil.
Living on this planet we call home should be celebrated, avoiding harm and damage to all who share it, so Mindful Myrtle’s food choices are made considering our eco footprint, causing the least harm when sourcing ingredients.
Waste Food – Being mindful of the good food our society throws away each year, and of the fact that many people abroad and here in the UK don’t have enough healthy food to eat, all of our ‘waste’ is recycled or donated. All raw waste from preparation is composted in our 11 garden bins, the compost then used on our veg garden to grow as many of our own organic produce as we can squeeze in. There is very little cooked food waste, or fresh waste, but when there is it’s donated it to our local ‘pay as you feel’ café.
