Thank you for visiting the Mindful Myrtle website – I hope it will inspire you with offerings of delicious, thoughtfully prepared, plant-based food, and unique mindful retreats.
Mindful Myrtle’s aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle for you and the planet, with a focus on seasonal, local, natural, and mainly organic ingredients, whether it’s been cooked on one of your retreats, or supplied to a local café, yoga centre or family.
My food is prepared with a calm mind and a happy heart, bringing sunshine and love to your plate. Thoughts infuse all our food, so I strive to provide delicious meals with a sense of gratitude and respect for the alchemy of ingredients and their origins.
I founded Mindful Myrtle in January 2016, with a lot of support and guidance from my family. I’ve been vegetarian for over 40 years, and gradually turned more towards plant-based food over the last 10 years as my family have switched to a vegan diet.
My kitchen is in our self-built eco home on a sunny hillside just outside Llandudno, North Wales. It’s the centre of my universe, creating home-cooked delicious dishes, making meal times a celebration and a time to be shared with loved ones.
Having begun my working life in a vegetarian restaurant in Manchester, I moved to North Wales with my husband and young family almost 30 years ago. After two decades working as an events and project manager in the voluntary sector, I decided to establish my own business – a long time dream.
The name Mindful Myrtle has been carefully chosen to reflect my philosophy in the kitchen and life in general: Mindful adj. – taking heed or care; being conscious. Myrtle n. – evergreen shrub of genus Myrtus, it has a rich history as a symbol of love.
